COMMUNITY UPDATE

DECEMBER 2024

Preparing to unwrap a new year of opportunities!

Happy (almost) New Year!!

I hope your holidays have been fun, restful and filled with love so far.

As we wrap up these final days of 2024 and get ready to unwrap the many opportunities waiting for us in 2025, please be sure to make time for yourself to rest up and recharge.

It is so important for all of us to take the opportunities we have to rejuvenate so that we can be all-in for our students when the school year resumes later this week.

Prior to the start of our holiday break, we were so fortunate to receive an outpouring of support from our community in so many forms.

From the delivery of thousands of winter coats for our students through Mayor Sheehan’s annual Cash for Coats campaign, to the thousands of dollars the City Club of Â鶹ӰÒô raised to support the Superintendent’s Fund for the Happiness of Children, to the busload of toys that First Student delivered on the last day of school to enrich the holidays for hundreds of our students, it has been an incredible season of giving.

We are grateful to everyone whose generosity of time, spirit or treasure touched the lives of our students and families.

Our hearts also remain with the families of our North Â鶹ӰÒô Middle School students who were lost in the tragic accident in Washington Park in early December.

Through this time of terrible grief and hardship, it was edifying to witness our community wrap its collective arms around those most deeply affected by this devastating loss. I would like to thank our North Â鶹ӰÒô PTA once again for its leadership in these efforts as well.

Please enjoy your time this week with your family and friends. We are looking forward to seeing everyone when school resumes Thursday, and I wish you the very happiest New Year!

Sincerely,
