About our school
Here at ASH, our mission is to inspire all students to express themselves through art, music and theater classes. Students are taught using an innovative curriculum that incorporates the arts and humanities into daily teaching and learning activities.
ASH is one of four magnet programs in the City School District of Â鶹ӰÒô, and in addition to our regular elementary curriculum, ASH offers supplementary art, theatre, science and computer classes to our students.
Students participate in monthly assemblies and field trips that support our humanities theme. Our students benefit from a close partnership with Siena College and frequent presentations from community arts organizations including Â鶹ӰÒô
Symphony, Saratoga Opera and the Â鶹ӰÒô Institute of History & Art and more.
Through our humanities-based approach, we strive to educate all students to be lifelong learners, capable decision-makers and positive contributors to their community.
Marie Culihan
Principal
Our arts and humanities theme is a multicultural approach with a strong focus on arts, literature and music infused throughout the school day.
We view education through a humanities lens, meaning students learn through lessons in art, music, theater and visual arts. This focus is incorporated daily into all subject areas.
In addition to art and music, ASH learners also participate in weekly theater arts and creative movement activities. Our environment fosters a sense of self, with students and staff participating in school-wide mindful moments, community-service projects and Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) events.
