The City School District of Â鶹ӰÒô was notified Monday of 14 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. The individuals and their unvaccinated contacts are quarantining at home.
The first and second cases involve Â鶹ӰÒô High School. The first individual was last in school Nov. 24, and the Â鶹ӰÒô County Health Department identified no additional contacts with the case. The second individual is associated with 11th grade and was last in school Nov. 23. The health department identified nine additional contacts with the case; of those, three are vaccinated and do not require quarantine.
The third and fourth cases involve Â鶹ӰÒô School of Humanities (ASH). Both individuals are associated with fifth grade and were last in school Nov. 23. In the third case, the health department identified 35 additional contacts; of those, four are vaccinated and do not require quarantine. In the fourth case, the health department identified three additional contacts; all are in quarantine.
The fifth and sixth cases involve Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School. The fifth individual is associated with eighth grade and was last in school Nov. 19. The sixth individual is associated with sixth grade and was last in school Nov. 23. The health department identified no additional contacts with either case.
The seventh and eighth cases involve Thomas O’Brien Academy of Science and Technology (TOAST). Both individuals were last in school Nov. 23; one is associated with second grade. The health department identified no additional contacts with either case.
The ninth case involves prekindergarten at Arbor Hill Elementary School, and the individual was last in school Nov. 24. The health department identified 19 additional contacts with the case; three are vaccinated and do not require quarantine.
The 10th case involves second grade at Eagle Point Elementary School. The individual was last in school Nov. 23, and the health department identified 12 additional contacts with the case; four are vaccinated and do not require quarantine.
The 11th case involves eighth grade at North Â鶹ӰÒô Middle School. The individual was last in school on Nov. 23, and the health department identified no additional contacts with the case.
The 12th case involves fifth grade at Pine Hills Elementary School. The individual was last in school on Nov. 23, and the health department identified no additional contacts with the case.
The 13th case involves fourth grade at Sheridan Preparatory Academy, and the individual was last in school Nov. 23. The health department identified eight additional contacts with the case; of those, two are vaccinated and do not require quarantine.
Monday’s 14th and final case involves William S. Hackett Middle School. The individual was last in school Nov. 23, and the health department identified no additional contacts with the case.
Health and safety procedures at all district buildings continue to include cleaning and sanitizing. We will continue with these procedures, and also will continue to follow all required COVID-19 precautions (wearing masks inside all district buildings, hand hygiene, social distancing of 3 feet or more in all classrooms, and other precautions).
We also would like to remind everyone of steps you can take to help be safe:
- Maintain social distance at all times from those you don’t live with.
- Always wear a mask that covers both the mouth and nose when inside at school or when your student is riding a bus to or from school.
- Wash hands with soap and water frequently when out of your home. If you cannot use soap and water, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Don’t touch the eyes, nose or mouth unless your hands are clean.
- DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL WHEN THEY ARE SICK OR HAVE SYMPTOMS:
- Signs of COVID-19 are: fever, fatigue/tiredness, muscle/body aches or pains, congestion, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, nausea/vomiting or diarrhea, headache, loss of taste or smell, rash, feeling sick or unwell in any way.
