Guest prompts important conversation about international differences

Students learn Ugandan dance and drumming.

Thank you to Ronnie Sseruyange, a Ugandan who lived on the streets as a child and who is now the director of Jajja’s Kids in Uganda, for

Jajja’s Kids supports street children by providing housing and schooling.

During the discussion - guided by Sseruyange, ENL teacher Kristen Backes and retired district teacher Susan Fowler - students compared life in Uganda to life in their native countries and, also, life in the United States.

Following the discussion, Sseruyange led a Ugandan dance and drumming lesson, which everyone enjoyed but especially Heidi Myer's kindergarten class!
