Student safety: commuting after school

The following message is from Â鶹ӰÒô High School Principal Jodi Commerford:

Dear Â鶹ӰÒô High families,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to reach out regarding an important matter that has come to our attention regarding student safety and commuting after school.

We have noticed that many of our students have been congregating at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Ontario or Quail streets after school, even though this is not the shortest or safest route home for many of them. This has caused some disruption in our community.

To address this, we are encouraging all students to take the shortest and safest walking route home, or to ride CDTA tripper buses or First Student buses that arrive directly on our campus for dismissal. We are working closely with the Â鶹ӰÒô Police Department to ensure student safety in these areas. They also are taking this matter seriously and will be enforcing community safety protocols.

We would greatly appreciate if you would please review this information and share it with your child. Their cooperation in taking the safest routes home will be invaluable in helping to maintain a safe and orderly environment for everyone.

Thank you for your support and partnership in this important matter. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. You can reach me by calling the school at (518) 475-6200.
