Hackett security update for Monday

William S. Hackett Middle School will have additional security measures in place Monday out of an abundance of caution following threats identifying the school as a potential target.

The Â鶹ӰÒô Police Department and other law enforcement agencies are investigating these new threats, which are believed to be related to the threat the school received Friday morning. Authorities identified Friday morning’s threat to be completely unfounded.

Â鶹ӰÒô police executed a search warrant at a city residence Saturday to investigate a potential suspect. The police and other local, state and federal agencies continue their investigation and will prosecute any individuals identified as responsible for threats to any school community.

Â鶹ӰÒô police will have an additional presence at Hackett on Monday as a precaution. Hackett will follow its regular security procedures Monday with the following additional precautions:

  • Students will enter the building through our normal entrance points Monday to start the day. After the start of our school day, our main entrance on Delaware Avenue will be the only point of entry or exit for the building.
  • Parents and guardians needing to pick up a student during the school day will be able to do so by appointment. Please call ahead at (518) 475-6475 to let us know what time you will arrive. We will ask that you wait outside the main entrance while staff conduct our standard security checks. Staff then will bring your student out to you.

Your partnership is valued and critical to our efforts to maintain safe and secure learning environments at Hackett and throughout our school district.

Should you or your child become aware of any threat or information that makes you feel uncomfortable, please report that information to a school official immediately.
