TikTok trend continues to incite inappropriate student behavior

Superintendent Kaweeda G. Adams

The City School District of Â鶹ӰÒô has learned of monthly challenges on the social media platform TikTok that encourage students nationwide to engage in violent, lewd and inappropriate behavior.

You may recall that a recent challenge called “Devious Licks” encouraged students to steal or damage school items, make a video of their efforts and post the video online. Purported challenges in the coming months incite students to hit teachers, expose themselves and more.

Parents, guardians and caregivers, please pay close attention to your student’s social media use. These challenges may seem to some like innocent pranks, but they in fact can result in your student harming themselves or others.

All these incidents violate the school district’s Student Code of Conduct. It is important to note that the district takes these matters very seriously. Students, who engage in these inappropriate behaviors will be held accountable in alignment with the Student Code of Conduct.

We realize the vast majority of our students are respectful to each other and to school property, and we urge all students to be mindful of their actions. We ask that you discuss these issues with your student to ensure they are aware of what is and is not appropriate.

If you have any questions, please contact the principal at your student’s school.
