Be safe this spooky season!

Halloween is coming up on Saturday and, while the spooky season still can be filled with celebrations and fun activities during the pandemic, it’s also critical to remember important practices to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Governor Cuomo is asking for your help to make sure everyone has a healthy and safe Halloween.

The best way to celebrate Halloween this year is to have fun with the people who live in your household. Decorating your house or apartment, decorating and carving pumpkins, playing Halloween-themed games, watching spooky movies, and trick-or-treating through your house or in a backyard scavenger hunt are all fun and healthy ways to celebrate during this time.

Check out these Halloween COVID-19 safety tips – and be sure to practice social distancing and – of course! – wear a mask!

Add your voice of support during the financial crisis

The City School District of 鶹Ӱ Board of Education is urging members of the 鶹Ӱ community to reach out to state and federal leaders to advocate for more support and equitable funding decisions for schools during the COVID-19 economic crisis.

You can check out our advocacy page, which includes more information about the district's critical fiscal situation due to COVID-19 as well as resources to help you reach out to state and federal leaders to ask them to support our students and our schools.

Nov. 3 schedule reminder

A reminder that Election Day – next Tuesday, Nov. 3 – will be a full day of instruction for all students.

Nov. 3 originally was planned as a Professional Development Day for faculty and staff, but was moved to the beginning of the school year in order to provide more time for teachers to prepare for re-opening in the COVID-19 environment.

Please note that all students at Montessori Magnet school and 鶹Ӱ High School’s Abrookin Career and Technical Center will attend school in a virtual environment Nov. 3. The 鶹Ӱ County Board of Elections is using these two school buildings as voting locations for the public.

A reminder that polls are open from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. on Nov. 3. If you are voting in-person that day, please remember to practice social distancing and wear a mask.

Second-quarter survey reminder

A reminder that the deadline for the district’s second-quarter survey has been extended until this Friday, Oct. 30, at 5 p.m.

The survey offers parents and guardians an opportunity to review instructional and transportation choices where applicable, and to provide additional information that will help with our planning.

The survey also includes questions related to students’ technology needs at home, and an opportunity to complete three important district forms digitally.

You can access the survey using your student's district Google account login credentials. The survey takes just a few minutes to complete. If you are having trouble accessing the survey, please contact the Technology Help Desk at (518) 475-6195 or reach out to your building principal.

The second marking period begins Nov. 16.

Daily COVID-19 Student Screener reminder

A reminder that if your student is attending school in-person we ask that you complete the each morning before school and take each student’s temperature.

The screener is quick and easy to complete. Login with your student’s district network credentials. If you answer “yes” to any of the questions, or if a student has a temperature above 100°F, the student is required to stay home from school.

Please contact your school if the student is required to stay home.

You also can use this if you have questions about how to use the Student COVID-19 Screener.
