On Friday, 65 Â鶹ӰÒô High students in our Career and Technical Education (CTE) program were inducted into Chapter 4667 of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS)!

The National Technical Honor Society is an educational non-profit that exists to honor, recognize and empower students and teachers in Career & Technical Education. 

Students qualify for membership if they have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, focus on a CTE pathway or major, have one or more faculty recommendations and participate in work-based learning, job shadowing or internship opportunities.

At Friday's ceremony, two Â鶹ӰÒô High School CTE program alumni—Kidisha Charles and Shamir Utsey—spoke to the students, sharing words of wisdom and affirmation based on their personal experiences.

Charles, who joined the military as a culinary specialist, reflected on her time at Â鶹ӰÒô High, sharing, "The training I received in high school gave me an edge in the military—I already knew how to work in high-pressure environments, manage resources and stay focused on the mission. Because of that, I was able to adapt quickly and excel in my role."

After the candle lighting ceremony to celebrate the NTHS attributes of skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship, citizenship and leadership, our returning members who are seniors were honored and gifted their graduation tassels and pins prior to our new inductees being invited to the stage for their certificates.
