The Black Arts Experience

The month of February was chock-full of projects and activities dedicated to Black artists of the past and present. Each grade level had a different discipline, such as visual arts, music or dance. Local artists met with students and shared what sparked their love of the arts. On the last day of February, students were treated to African dance and drumming. This project was partially supported by funds from the Â鶹ӰÒô Fund for Education.

Second grade comes to life

The Living Museum is an annual event for second grade students at NSES. Students take on the role of a historical figure and present their research for a small fee. By placing a small donation in a cup, that figure is brought to life. Proceeds from this event support their end-of-the-year field trip.
